After using Cursor, we gave open-source VS Code a try. The motivation was openness, cost, flexibility, and control. A closed editor product can be convenient, but it also defines too much of the workflow for you. We wanted the opposite direction: keep the workflow editable, swappable, and easy to experiment with.
